The Stone of Menden


A t the town hall in Beuel a copy of the Stone of Menden reminds us of the soldiers of Legio I Minervia growing corn at the right embankment of the Rhine during the long periods of peace; they cultivated pastures and enlarged them. The stone dates back to 200 AD. You can read on it:
