At the example of some states of central Eastern Europe it is shown which territorial, political and economic transformation processes they have gone through during the past centuries until the recent past and in which way these particular experiences have affected their consciousness and sense for values.

Here it is explained which values play a special role within the European Union. In addition, problems are shown which must be solved collectively in future by all EU member countries, whereby questions concerning values are of great importance.

On the basis of topical events from politics, economy and society in general transformation processes concerning our consciousness and sense for values are described on different levels:
- regional
- nationwide
- European or
- worldwide.
